Worship Redefined:

We invite you to join us for this vibrant, participatory, multi-sensory worship

on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. in Kibler Chapel.

What is Sunday R&R?
To answer this question, “R&R” does not mean any one thing in particular. It can mean a number of things! For example: reflection and renewal, rest and rejuvenation, or, whatever combination of “R” words worship evokes in you on a given day.
First and foremost, Sunday R&R is worship. It includes the fundamentals of all worship services: “gathering” (coming together in God’s presence), “proclaiming the Word” (preaching and teaching), “thanksgiving,” and “dismissal” (sending forth). But it is less structured, more informal, and more participatory than our Sunday morning services.
So, what makes Sunday R&R different? Sunday R&R provides a new way to experience and participate in the power and grace of God. The Kibler Chapel has    been rearranged to help us all share in that participation. What you will experience in the service, though, is not fixed or unalterable. Sunday R&R will be organic and fluid. It will change. It will include surprises, even to its planners. There will be times of singing, scripture reading, preaching, storytelling; times of silence, meditation, and prayer (group and individual). It will not be the same from Sunday to Sunday.
Another element of Sunday R&R is sacred space. Many images of worship come from the arrangement of sanctuary space. The environment into which we come can give us a sense of transfiguration on a mountaintop or a feeling of emptiness in a desert. The worship setting is a vital element of multi-sensory worship. On a given Sunday, it may include multi-faceted visual images, sounds, and/or even smells.
Sunday R&R will include eclectic music. We expect music of many styles and genres. Music presentations will have variety and be drawn from a wide range of instrumentations including guitar, piano, harp, percussion, woodwinds, and vocalists.
Sunday R&R is a collaborative creation. Our pastors select the scripture, which is the focus for each service. A worship team of church members then shares in finalizing the manner in which the service will be presented.
What Sunday R&R is NOT:
Sunday R&R is not an alternative congregation. Fundamentally, Sunday R&R is a part of BAUMC that informs and enhances the Sunday morning worship services, and the Sunday morning worship services inform and enhance Sunday R&R.
Sunday R&R is not intended for younger members only -- it is designed to appeal to folks of any age. While the service will include different types of music, sound, and expression, Sunday R&R is a worship service. It is “spirit-led, not performance-based.”
Sunday R&R is truly “Worship Redefined!”
