Our Congregation
Bon Air United Methodist Church is a 2000+ member congregation. Sunday worship attendance averages about 500, between the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. The makeup of our congregation is as varied in theology as it is in people. We have numerous members who come from non-United Methodist backgrounds. Job transfers cause us to lose members, but that same factor also brings in new members. Personal invitations, looking for a United Methodist Church or a "Neighborhood Church" are often cited as why individuals come to Bon Air. We strive to meet everyone where they are and offer every opportunity for them to move forward in their Christian spiritual journey. We have strong Children and Adult Sunday School programs, and offer various long-term and short-term studies throughout the year.
Bon Air United Methodist Church has opportunities for all age groups for church, local, conference, national, and international mission work. We are fortunate to have facilities which allow for unique outreach opportunities. Some of these outreach opportunities include CARITAS and Bon View preschool which is recognized as one of the best local preschools, Scouting, Stephen Ministry, Parish Nursing, and much more!
Our church believes strongly in the involvement and participation of the laity in decision-making. We feel that having pastors who are called to ministry and are comfortable expressing their love of God is most important. Bon Air has proven to have "fertile soil," with numerous candidates for pastoral ministry coming from our congregation.
