Statement of Inclusion

Dear Friends,

Perhaps you have heard that the 2019 General Conference of The United Methodist Church met and passed the "Traditional Plan."  The more inclusive plans that allowed full inclusion of  LGBTQIA+  persons which many of us had hoped for did not pass.  We were disappointed in a legislative process that failed to move us forward.

However, Bon Air United Methodist Church wants to assure the wider community that we seek to welcome all persons and do not exclude on the basis of race, color, political affiliation, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation.  We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all people in our worship, study, fellowship, and mission ministries.

There are many United Methodist Churches in the Richmond area, in the Virginia Conference, and throughout our nation and world that support full inclusion.  We join with them in affirming the sacred worth of all people.  We believe that this is the "Good News" of Jesus Christ.

Blessings to all,

Burt Brooks, Senior Pastor

Jenny Day, Associate Pastor
